Job Overview:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct one-on-one therapy to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques. This role requires working closely with a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, and contribute to the overall progress of the individual’s therapeutic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement ABA Therapy: Provide direct therapy to clients based on individual treatment plans designed by a BCBA, using evidence-based techniques such as reinforcement, prompting, and teaching functional skills.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect data on client behavior, progress, and responses to interventions. Maintain accurate and timely records of therapy sessions.
  • Behavioral Intervention: Assist in managing challenging behaviors through safe and effective behavioral interventions as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Client Progress Monitoring: Track and report client progress regularly to BCBAs and supervisors, providing necessary updates on any changes or challenges encountered during sessions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with families, caregivers, and other team members to ensure the implementation of consistent behavior interventions across various settings.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training and development related to ABA principles and interventions, as well as compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements.
Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some positions may require a college degree in psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Certification: Must have current RBT certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Experience: Prior experience in a behavior analysis setting or working with children/adults with autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
    • Comfortable working with individuals with behavioral and developmental challenges.
    • Ability to collect and organize data efficiently.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to engage in physical activity (e.g., lifting, sitting on the floor, standing) and may be required to implement behavior management techniques when necessary.
